School feeding, also known as schools meals, have been part of the education system since pre-independence times. The school meals programme began as a pilot in 1963 in Mbabane ans Manzini witha grant from Save the Children Fund - UK with additional funds coming in 1965 from Oxfam UK. At this time parents had to pay for the food.
The Cost of Hunger in Africa (COHA)is an African Union Commission (AUC)-led initiative through which countries are able to estimate the social and economic impacts of child undernutrition. Twelve countries are participating in the study. Swaziland is part of the four first-phase countries.
