The health sector response to HIV/AIDS plan 2014-2018
The 5-year Health Sector Response to HIV/AIDS plan (2014-2018) is an operational plan that outlines the 5 year commitment of the Ministry of Health and its partners, towards scaling up the response of the health sector to HIV and AIDS epidemic in Swaziland. The HSRP 2014-2018 puts into operation the health sector related obligations of the extended National Strategic Framework (eNSF) for HIV and AIDS (2014-2018). The eNSF, which is a five-year multi-sectoral HIV/AIDS plan for Swaziland, was developed through a consultative process that built upon the 2011 Joint Mid-Term Revies (MTR) of the National Strategic Framework (NSF) for HIV/AIDS (2009-2014). The MTR outcomes indicated that some of the NSF 2009-2014 strategies were still relevant to the current context of the HIV epidemic in Swaziland. This influenced the decision to opt for an extension of the current NSF for another five-year period from 2014-2018, with focus on interventions that have been scientifically proven to make an impact on the HIV/AIDS epidemic. The extension of the eNSF adopted an "investing for results" approach and takes into consideration the new (2013) WHO Treatment Guidelines and commitments required by the 2011 UN Political Declaration for HIV and AIDS.
